How to Set up the MCP for ChatGPT in the Web Browser

Learn how to connect the Timeero MCP to ChatGPT as a custom MCP server in your web browser.

*ChatGPT requires a paid plan (Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, or Edu). On workspace plans, an admin may need to allow custom MCP servers first.

 

What do I Need to do Before Starting? 

  • Have your Public API key ready from Integrations → Public API → Configuration.
  • MCP URL:https://mcp.timeero.com/mcp. 
  • Use ChatGPT in your web browser

How do I Connect Timeero in ChatGPT?

  1. Open ChatGPT in your web browser.  
  2. Open Settings → Plugins.
  3. Select Developer mode.
  4. Scroll down and turn on Developer mode.  
  5. Select Plugins from the left hand side. 
  6. Select Browse plugins.
  7. Click the Plus icon next to the search bar and select Create app. 
  8. Select Create MCP App.
  9. Name it Timeero. 
  10. Set the connection to Server URL. 
  11. Set the MCP URL to https://mcp.timeero.com/mcp.
  12. Set Authentication to OAuth. 
  13. Click the checkbox to acknowledge the risks.
  14. Click Create.
     
  15. Paste your Public API key and click Connect.
  16. On the authorize screen, choose whether ChatGPT may write and/or delete Timeero data (read access is always included).
  17. Click Allow access. 

What do I do Once it is Enabled?

Test it out with one of the following prompts:

  • “Show time and mileage for the Field Crew group last week.”
  • “Who is clocked in right now?”
  • “List my jobs.”

Confirm any write actions ChatGPT prompts you to approve.
