Learn how to map different tasks in Timeero to different pay rates in ADP
You can pay employees different rates based on the task worked. This can be achieved by mapping Timeero tasks to ADP RUN Departments.
Requirements for this setup:
- Make sure to have Departments turned on in ADP.
- Ensure Timeero has been connected to RUN Powered by ADP.
- In Timeero, turn on Enable Pay Rates by going to Integrations > RUN Powered by ADP > Configuration.
- In Timeero, you have to ensure that the setting to allow users to select a task is turned on. You can do so by going to Company Settings (Gear icon on the top right) and then turn on Allow users to choose a task when clocking in.
Hourly Employees can have up to 5 ADP Pay Rate + Department combinations while Salary Employees can have up to 2. This feature will not work 1099’s, their base ADP pay rate will always be referenced for imported time.
In Timeero, you have to ensure that the setting to allow users to select a task is turned on.
You can do so by going to Company Settings (Gear icon on the top right) and then turn on Allow users to choose a task when clocking in.
When clocking in with Timeero, users can track time toward Jobs and Tasks. Jobs usually represent a customer or a location and Tasks in Timeero generally represent the type of work being done. When time is exported to RUN Powered by ADP Integration without the Pay Rates enabled, all of the time tracked by a Timeero user will import into RUN Powered by ADP with the base ADP pay rate and base ADP Department assigned to the ADP Payroll settings for that employee.
However, the RUN Powered by ADP integration allows specific Timeero Tasks to be mapped to specific ADP Departments, enabling the import of time tracked in Timeero into ADP to support multiple Departments or pay rates per Employee

Getting started with mapping:
1. Enable and create Departments in ADP RUN (this process may be different if the ADP RUN interface is updated) or talk to your ADP point of contact for the latest guidance:
- Navigate to Company > Departments > Add.
- If you have the ADP General Ledger, reach out to the ADP General Ledger team on how to configure ADP Departments and ADP General Ledger.
2. Assign Departments and Pay Rates to ADP Employees. Navigate to Employees > Directory > Select an Employee > Payroll Settings. These steps may be outdated so contact your ADP for help if you are experiencing any difficulty doing this correctly.
3. Ensure Timeero Tasks are mapped to ADP Departments. To create a Task in Timeero, go to Jobs & Tasks, toggle to Tasks on the top and then choose Add Task.
4. Sync ADP Employees and Departments in Timeero. In Timeero, go to Integrations > RUN Powered by ADP > Configuration > Configure Mappings > Pay Rates.
5. Click Sync changes from ADP to update an employee's departments.
6. Map the Task with the appropriate Department/Payrate and click on Map Pay Rate to save the changes.
7. Great job! You've successfully setup Tasks with ADP Department codes.
