If you have a lot of employees you'd like to add at one time, you can import them through a CSV spreadsheet.
- Go to the Users page and select Import Employees at the top
- Select Download Template and save it to either Excel or Google Sheets
- Fill out each field completely and download it as a CSV
- Click the Upload CSV file button and pick the correct document.
- Match your CSV columns with the correlating field in Timeero. You can click the Map Common Fields button and it will try to match columns that have exact name matches, otherwise pick from the drop down menu. Fields marked with the * symbol are required.
- Once done, click Start Import. This may take a few minutes, depending on how many users you are adding.
When importing a CSV file, please note certain fields are case-sensitive and should match template
Formatting Tips and Explanations
When filling out the data in your spreadsheet template, please note certain fields are case-sensitive or may only accept specific input.
First Name- Employee's first name (not case sensitive)
Last Name - Employee's last name (not case sensitive)
Email - Employee's email
Phone Number -Numbers only, do not add parenthesis, dashes or spaces. This is optional if you are not sending a user an SMS invitation.
Role -Admin, Manager, or Employee
Hourly Pay Rate -This is optional
Password -Must contain at least 6 characters - 1 uppercase, 1 lowercase, 1 number and 1 of these special characters: .@$!%*#&
Employee ID -This is optional
Track Mileage - yes or no
Send Invite -No for do not send invite, Yes to select one or both of the following options
Email Invite- yes or no
SMS Invite- yes or no
If you are using CSVs to input non-ASCII characters, you will be required to select Unicode encoding. Otherwise, any invalid characters will be marked with a ?
.For example, in Microsoft Excel:
- Click Save as
- Click the drop-down menu next to File format
- Select CSV UTF-8 (Comma delimited) (.csv) from the drop-down menu
- Click Save
You can use your own CSV file instead if you already have one built, just make sure you have names for all of your columns!
