Creating a Holiday
To view, create and import holidays, you will need to go to Time Off Setup, and in the top left corner, next to Time Off Category, click on Holidays.
At the top left, you'll find a Status toggle to switch between active and inactive holidays. On the top right, you can use the search bar to find a holiday by name.
How to create a new holiday
To create a new holiday, go to the top right corner and click Create Holiday. A sidebar will open where you can enter the holiday details.
Holiday - Name of the holiday (e.g., New Year’s Day, Independence Day)
Start Date - The beginning date of the holiday
End Date - The end date (typically same as start unless multi-day)
Applicable For - Indicates who the holiday applies to (e.g., All, specific employees/groups)
Enable/Disable holiday - Indicates whether the holiday is active or inactive
Recurring yearly - Enable recurring yearly so that the holiday can repeat annually on the same date
How to import Holidays
Click Import Holiday, then select the country (US or Canada) and the year. A list of holidays will appear. Check the boxes next to the holidays you want to import, choose which users they apply to, and click Import to complete the process.
Public holidays in - Currently available public holidays in US and Canada
Year - Import public holiday from year 2025 to year 2030
Applicable For - Indicates who the holiday applies to (e.g., All, specific employees/groups)
Holidays must still be approved by an admin. Unlike time off categories—where you can choose whether they're paid or unpaid—holidays are automatically treated as paid.
When an admin creates a holiday, they select the date and define which users it applies to, among other things. A holiday request is then automatically generated for those users and will appear under Time Off → Pending Requests. Only holidays created for that specific date will show up in the request list—no other holidays will appear unless they match that date.
Employees and managers cannot create or modify holidays themselves; they can only view the request status as pending, approved, or rejected. Approval or rejection must be handled by an admin.
